School Health Related Services

In accordance with law (S.B. No. 12 Sec. 26.0083 3 g.), the school district must provide parents with written notice of each school-based health-related service offered at the campus. These routine services promote student safety, wellness, and readiness to learn. The services may be provided by qualified school staff, including nurses and athletic trainers. This does not take the place of an individualized health plan, 504 plan, or other legally required documents.

A parent/guardian has the right to withhold consent or decline health-related service.

Routine Health-Related Services Provided at PCCISD: ● First aid and injury evaluation ● Administration of over-the-counter medications in accordance with law ● Administration of prescription medications in accordance with law ● Monitoring of chronic health conditions ● Vision, Hearing, and Scoliosis Screenings (as per state guidelines) ● Lice Screening ● Acanthosis Screening (as per state guidelines) ● Support during illness or physical symptoms at school

Parents/Guardians that choose to withdraw consent for health-related services must do so in writing. The parent/guardian will then be contacted with all health related concerns to include minor scrapes to emergencies.

Otherwise students will automatically receive these services.
